Tony Porter reflexology
Although I also worked as a manipulative therapist in my early years, I was unaware of other techniques for treating these conditions, particularly passive techniques.
As a result of a chance meeting with Arthur Lincoln Pauls, the founder of Ortho-Bionomy, I became his student and I remained a close friend until his death in 1997. Meeting Arthur was a true blessing; I count myself fortunate to have met such a genius.
His work demonstrated that if we work with and not against the body, spontaneous, passive, structural correction will take place.
I became aware that there were other reasons for structural pain, not merely, those caused by accident or injury. Reflex areas on certain tissues of the body are indicators of ‘patterns’ or body armouring caused by mainly unconscious psychosomatic ‘memories’.
These can be far away from the area of the pain. When these are released through various types of contact and sometimes very small movements, the presented pain will often vanish completely.
In my reflexology work I apply these same principles. Many disturbed and painful reflexes, particularly if they display a certain ‘feel’ are the same as the ‘patterns’ I have just mentioned, not physical but psychosomatic in their causation.
In part 2 of this blog I will enlarge more on this subject and how it applies to reflexology.
